Multinet Gas Networks (MGN) is a natural gas distribution company. We own and operate the gas network throughout Melbourne’s inner and outer east, the Yarra Ranges and South Gippsland, including the pipes and gas metres.
MGN distributes natural gas to over 687,000 customers in our network, transporting gas from the high-pressure transmission network operated by APA GasNet to residential, commercial and industrial customers.
We generate revenue by charging retailers to transport natural gas through our networks.
In 2017 MGN became a part of the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG). AGIG is owned by the CK Infrastructure Holdings led consortium and combines the operations of the Dampier Bunbury Pipeline (DBP), Australian Gas Networks (AGN) and Multinet. Connecting Australia through over 4,000km of transmission pipeline and over 230 megawatts of remote gas fired energy generation, AGIG’s distribution network is the largest in Australia delivering natural gas across the country ready to be used for heating and cooking in over 2 million homes and businesses across Australia including Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane, and many of Australia’s key industries such as mining, power generation and the production of fertilisers for agriculture.
